Learn To Play The Piano Book 1 | (Download Only)

I had piano lessons at school 70 years ago, hated it then,now getting back into it and enjoying it heaps. Modern technology has made it so much better.Although I would not mind getting smacked by my new teacher, beats the cranky old Nun that used to smack me for hitting "joeies"

This book throws at you one problem at a time such that with some effort you can overcome the problem and feel satisfied with your progress. That, I think, is quite important in keeping you motivated. From watching other youtube videos I know that Alison is skipping stuff like note reading etc. but I appreciate the purpose of doing that. It avoids overwhelming the beginner. I really like this book and Alison's method of teaching. I would say this book should be a good fit for most beginners. I just wish there were more number of practice exercises and may be a few simple songs you can learn at the end of every lesson.

I love these tutorials and this book. I started watching the tutorials, purchased the books and started playing in days. I have some knowledge of the piano from previous attempts to self educate, but Allison makes this learning process stress free, fun, inspiring and inviting. My 7 year old son wants to learn to play too. I am thrilled to have him sit with me and learn together.

Combined with the YouTube links Alison has made it so easy to follow and understand. Her teaching style is great. I did not know anything at all about music. Thank you so much. Yvonne

I decided that I wanted to learn the piano a couple weeks ago and I started watching the YouTube videos. Once I realized there was a book to go along with it I was so happy. The book goes along great with the videos and is easy to teach yourself. The only thing I wish is that there were actual songs to play as we learn. I'm currently on lesson 8 and I feel like I should have learned a song or two by now.

Love this book. Easy to follow and a great resource. I like having a hard copy of Alison's lessons to refer to. Definitely worth downloading and printing. I'm impressed with the videos - and they aren't too long or complicated. I'm enjoying the lessons immensely.

What a great book! I couldn't dream to play so quick and smooth in just days! I went through the scale of C and theory on day one (I already knew music theory), and on the second day I started with lesson 7 (which is where the actual playing begins). A great help is that Alison has put the names of the notes (C, D, E etc.) above each note. In just two days (practicing 2-3 hours a day), I was ready for lesson 8, which I am doing now for three days. I think I'll be ready for lesson 9 in another two days or so. If you would like to learn to play the piano: this book makes you feel talented and confident in doing so!

Alison is so far the best online piano instructor I have found. Her lessons and book are easy to follow and I enjoy her method of online teaching. I highly recommend her books (just purchased Book 2) and her YouTube channel.

This is a wonderful way to begin the journey. The book follows along with Alison's Videos in a way that makes learning beginning piano without having a real time instructor possible. All you have to add is practice, practice, practice. Thank you Ms. Sparrow!

Easy to follow lessons supported by excellent videos. Alison has thoughtfully compiled the exercises to maximise progression and build up skills progressively without large jumps. Very enjoyable course and highly recommended for any beginner. Looking forward to book 2.
