Used in conjunction with the youtube videos this is an excellent way to learn piano. I am very pleased with the quality of the books and the way that Alison explains things in simple terms. With lots of practice I'm learning more than I had imagined.
Thank you Alison for writing this series of learning piano books. Fabulous way to learn for me ( a drummer and bass player of many years) as I have always secretly yearned to play the piano. Although I am not really a formal, classical music style person ( more into the jazz / ballad / pop style) I find this to be a new and refreshing interest to try these pieces as you teach them. Guess you CAN teach an older dog new tricks after all !!
zeer nette en duidelijke cursus, ziet er naar uit dat ik vlug volgende delen zal bestellen ENGLISH TRANSLATION: very neat and clear course, looks like I will soon order the next parts
I am 67 and never played a piano. I know I have a long way to go but I feel encouraged Might never become the next Jerry Lee, but I expect to have some fun with what I’m learning!
This course in beginner piano playing is excellent. Very structured and seamlessly follows on. The exercises are beautifully written and you feel as though you are actually playing something a bit classical which I love. I look forward to my 30 minutes practice each day and I’m progressing really well. I never thought I’d ever be able to play but Alison is making this possible for me. I’m so proud of myself that I’ve just ordered my first digital piano as up until now I’ve been using a keyboard. At 58 years old now I feel like I’ve at last been given a gift of being able to learn to play the piano. Thank you so much Alison, from a really happy customer.
I learned piano a long time ago as a child and I am now getting back into playing again. These books and the associated You Tube videos are a great refresher for me. But they would be great for a beginner as well. I am really enjoying these books and videos.
By using this book and following Alison via her YouTube channel I'll be playing in know time. Only a third of the way through the book but have learnt so much already. Just st like having a teacher every step of the way. Really good.
This is a great introduction to the basics of the piano/keyboard and music theory and reading in general. Alison helps you get confidence through early achievement and doing it alone means you do it at your own pace. I run my small Akai 25 key keyboard through Garageband and the tutorial still seems workable for all manner of keyboards, including organs, synthesizers and mellotrons etc. In short a fair bit can be had whilst building skills. But as Alison says the key to progress is continuous practice which is required to train the brain and fingers for any form of musical instrument.
I am more than happy with my order and the personal way Alison communicated with me. Just from what I have learned from watching Alison on YouTube over the last year or so, I know this program will work for me, and just about anyone, who is prepared to put in the time using these great books, demonstrated further on you tube. It is obvious how many hours of work go into the lessons. As a mature learner, I've been struggling along on my own for over a year and feeling overwhelmed; now I'm looking forward to moving ahead with Alison's structured format. Thank you Alison.
