This is a great introduction to the basics of the piano/keyboard and music theory and reading in general. Alison helps you get confidence through early achievement and doing it alone means you do it at your own pace. I run my small Akai 25 key keyboard through Garageband and the tutorial still seems workable for all manner of keyboards, including organs, synthesizers and mellotrons etc. In short a fair bit can be had whilst building skills. But as Alison says the key to progress is continuous practice which is required to train the brain and fingers for any form of musical instrument.

    Happy older learner

Posted by Marion on 13th Jun 2017

I am more than happy with my order and the personal way Alison communicated with me.
Just from what I have learned from watching Alison on YouTube over the last year or so, I know this program will work for me, and just about anyone, who is prepared to put in the time using these great books, demonstrated further on you tube. It is obvious how many hours of work go into the lessons.
As a mature learner, I've been struggling along on my own for over a year and feeling overwhelmed; now I'm looking forward to moving ahead with Alison's structured format.
    Thank you Alison.

    Super Great!

Posted by David Berry on 2nd Apr 2017

I'm 62 years old and decided to learn the piano. I am so glad I did! Alison's books are really the best that I've found. I'm making great progress - the explanations are super, and the exercises are perfect. Hopefully, I'll be on book 4 some day.

WOW I think I will be able to learn to play the piano!!

Posted by Jeanne G on 3rd Mar 2017

Learning to play the piano was always something I thought I would never be able to do (still can't yet). My husband found your videos on You Tube and has purchased both book 1 and the accompanying song book and I have just began. I have found the book along with the relevant You Tube video brilliant, it almost feels as if I have attended a personal class. I think the instant access via a QR code to the relevant video is superb and makes things so much easier. I cannot read music or hold a tune therefore thought playing a piano was out of my reach and all I could do was listen to others playing. I now know what the white keys are and am practising my C scale legarto both in contra motion and both hands apart, and whilst this is such a small step I cannot express the pleasure this is giving me. I feel confident that with the book, videos and practise I will eventually be able to read music and play a piece. I would recommend this for anyone starting out a great product. Thank You so much Alison for having made this possible

    Very Helpful!

These books are very helpful for beginners with zero experience in playing the Piano. I definitely recommend this compared to most of the books on the internet.

    Best Online Piano Course

Posted by Mark C. on 17th Jan 2017

First, I am in no way affiliated with this site. This is an honest review. As an adult beginner, I've tried many online piano courses, lessons and tutorials but they all suffer from the same thing. They will sell you a subscription and you get access to hundreds of individual lessons related to hundreds of different topics with no direction or focus. There is no way to know what you should be working on and in what order.

Alison Sparrow's course has been fantastic! It is SO focused and follows a very concise curriculum so that you never feel lost as to what you should be working on. This is a fantastic course and I intend to continue on with Book 2 - 4. I'm just completing Book 1 and have learned so much in such a short amount of time. Thanks for a great product!

Perfect for an adult learning the Piano

Posted by Victoria :o) on 10th Jan 2017

This is perfect for me as I am able to teach myself from home and at my pace. I am an adult learner who learnt as a child and then in my late 20's. I didn't want to go to lessons as I do have some basic understanding of piano.

I wanted to start from scratch and I find Alison's YouTube instruction along with the workbook excellent for my needs.

She is a very good teacher better than any other YouTube video's I have scrolled through.

You need to pay something to be able to be taught properly and this is very good value for money.

    Thank you Alison.

I look forward to my journey and completing all 4 workbooks. :o)

    Perfect for beginners

Great basic technique information. Had me playing in 15 minutes. Following the YouTube lessons and the book makes it very easy. My daughters 9 and 11 are now playing too.
