    Great little simple book

Posted by Jose E. on 6th May 2015

I have been playing guitar and bass since my late teens. Also taught myself how to play drums, but when it came to playing keyboards or piano, I was never able to progress beyond playing mostly basic chords. I was always intimated by piano scales until now. I love Alison's approach to practicing scales, it has allowed me to start playing scales with both hands like never before. It is a good idea to link the book to the videos, which as a matter of fact, are great. I will be waiting for #3.

Never to old to star to learn.

I'm guitar player. And know would like to learn how to play the piano. Book 1 is a comprehensive easy to understand well define, right to the point material, even as a guitar player I was able to refresh to prepare me to book 2 . I'm 65 years old and I want to do this to encourage other in my church to do the same, and in the process have fun doing it. God bless you Alison for passing on your talent to us in the easy way. Thanks, Ricardo.

    Excellent book

Posted by Rene Raymond on 7th Apr 2015

For almost forty years, I hoped that one day I would learn to play the piano. This day has finally come. I searched the Internet in order to find a good way to achieve my goal. It took some time before I found by chance Alison's videos. I couldn't believe that someone with her qualifications would offer such a wealth of knowledge for free. After watching all the videos, I decided to buy the second book (I did not need the first one because, being a guitar player, I am already quite familiar with its content). What a wise decision that was! All the concepts are explained in a way that makes learning that much easier. Since I downloaded the book on my iPad, I can conveniently refer to it during my piano practices and whenever I need to. Thank you, Alison, for taking the time to write this book. I can’t wait to read the third one.

    Never Gave it a Chance

I was not so sure that book 1 was going anywhere. I was definitely wrong and for me " ask my wife" that is a real climb-down . I am thrilled I have both books and can now view them as probably the best thing I have done. That for a 77year-old really is something. I am now starting to do what I always wanted to do. My Younger brother got the upright Bechstien and can play very well - self taught now I have a tutor, if only Alison Sparrow knew, she may have given me more encouragement than I get from any other quarter. Thankyou for such an excellent beginning to my Piano playing attempt

    Simply The Best.

I am only half way through book 1, but I have been so impressed by the content of the first book and the videos, and the enjoyment and ease with which Alison is making this journey, I had absolutely no hesitation in purchasing book 2 as soon as it became available. If you serious about learning to play the piano, and are prepared to devote a bit of time and effort, to achieve your goals (as with all things worth while in life). You too will be rewarded by creating your own music, there's nothing like it.

Book 2......A Worthy Followup to Book 1

Posted by Unknown on 22nd Mar 2015

A solid, forthright companion to Book 1. The videos are delivered with clarity and precision. Books 1 and 2 used with the linked videos are, without a doubt, one of the strongest beginning pianist programs available.

Alison comes through again! What a great music book that's so easy to follow! Very well laid out and all is explained so that anyone can understand it. You won't find a better series of books to learn how to play the piano.
