I'm a 68 year old piano beginner with some previous musical experience. I like Alison Sparrow's no-nonsense approach. I thought Book 1 was well put together, with good links to YouTube. I finished that so moved to Book 2. This is more gritty. She tells you that working on scales etc is really important - and I believe her. And yes, like a good pupil who's a bit scared of his teacher, I'm doing the scales! Good book - very good value. Simon on 8th Oct 2015
I'm enjoying the technical exercises (scale and arpeggios) presented in this book. I've been practicing them everyday, and I've seen major improvements. The way Alison presents the information (without overloading you with unnecessary information at this point) makes it easier to follow and stick with it.
For future purchasers, I recommend getting both Book 1 and Book 2 at the same time, so that you can get access to the scales and arpeggio exercises right from the beginning. They have really helped me understand fingering, loosening up my hand, and getting comfortable with the piano. Charles on 10th Aug 2015
A an older learner i find it easy to go in shorter steps and this course lets you learn at your own pace with video clips when thing just don't sink in. P Hamblin on 18th Jul 2015
The books and tutorials go hand in hand making learning, practicing and playing the piano easy, fun and joyful. I no longer feel intimidated by the piano, instead I love to pick up a piece of music and see how far I can play it. It amazes me how quickly I have been able to learn with Allison's teachings verses other methods I have attempted. Her videos are informative and extremely helpful. A+++ Teaching! Mary K. Patterson on 7th Jul 2015
I'm finding the book to be very helpful, clear to understand and easy to follow, I've been trying to teach myself for a few years,
and needed some help, this book was just the help I needed. Unknown on 22nd Jun 2015
Well presented easy to follow course. Alfred John Wiggin on 11th May 2015
I have been playing guitar and bass since my late teens. Also taught myself how to play drums, but when it came to playing keyboards or piano, I was never able to progress beyond playing mostly basic chords. I was always intimated by piano scales until now. I love Alison's approach to practicing scales, it has allowed me to start playing scales with both hands like never before. It is a good idea to link the book to the videos, which as a matter of fact, are great. I will be waiting for #3. Jose E. on 6th May 2015

I'm guitar player. And know would like to learn how to play the piano. Book 1 is a comprehensive easy to understand well define, right to the point material, even as a guitar player I was able to refresh to prepare me to book 2 . I'm 65 years old and I want to do this to encourage other in my church to do the same, and in the process have fun doing it. God bless you Alison for passing on your talent to us in the easy way. Thanks, Ricardo. Ricardo on 20th Apr 2015
For almost forty years, I hoped that one day I would learn to play the piano. This day has finally come. I searched the Internet in order to find a good way to achieve my goal. It took some time before I found by chance Alison's videos. I couldn't believe that someone with her qualifications would offer such a wealth of knowledge for free.
After watching all the videos, I decided to buy the second book (I did not need the first one because, being a guitar player, I am already quite familiar with its content). What a wise decision that was! All the concepts are explained in a way that makes learning that much easier. Since I downloaded the book on my iPad, I can conveniently refer to it during my piano practices and whenever I need to.
Thank you, Alison, for taking the time to write this book. I can’t wait to read the third one. Rene Raymond on 7th Apr 2015
